Step Two:

Dark cool colors were chosen for this piece because I intend to leave much of the first coat untouched of further applications.

I prepared a dark color mixing of paynes gray with prussian blue. For this step of the painting, all of the water area was painted with washes. More applications were added at the top then progressively less toward the bottom. The tonal foundation of the composition is completed before proceeding.
