Step Seven:
I added white with the underpainting mixture. Then a scumbling technique was used to apply the paint over the lilypads.
I completed this step by painting the forms in the foreground with glazes. I then brushed in its texture.
I will often go back and touch up the textures and other elements in a painting before it's finished. As the composition neared completion, areas of weakness were spotted requireing additional work. Even after the painting is finished, I sometimes find myself going back to it and reworking the painting here and there.
The following pages will show close ups of the center of interest... the last few steps of my demonstration.
